SOLVENTS, DEUTERATED FOR NMR

In deuterated solvents, the hydrogen atoms are replaced with deuterium. Deuterium is a heavy isotope of hydrogen with a proton and a neutron in its nucleus, instead of a single proton as in hydrogen. Deuterated solvents produce a sharper signal in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. They are commonly used in NMR spectroscopy and other chemical and physical analytical techniques.
