Fluxes

Fluxes are essential materials in the formulation of ceramic pastes and glazes, playing a key role in the manufacture of ceramic products.
- High-quality, cost-effective borate fluxes.
- From raw material to finished product, our flux uniquely provides modern laboratories with a quality level that enables elemental analysis with minimal background interference. The origin of our raw materials is monitored and forms the basis for consistent and quantitative results.
- Our product range offers a choice of different lithium tetraborate and lithium metaborate ratios, available in both granular and bead (spherical) form.
- SCHARLAU fluxes consist of non-hygroscopic glassy particles in both granular and bead (spherical) formats. They feature a density that ensures the flux occupies no more than 50% of the crucible capacity, as well as a low and consistent loss on ignition (LOI) (water content < 0.04%), helping to maintain the sample-to-flux ratio required for reliable analytical results.
- All SCHARLAU fluxes are fully analysed and documented for 20 relevant elements, giving analysts the confidence that recalibration of the spectrometer is not necessarily required with every delivery or batch.
- Integrated additives such as LiNO3 and NaNO3 promote consistent and complete oxidation. These compounds can be combined with LiI or LiBr as release/non-wetting agents (NWA) to ensure reliable quantitative results. End users can be confident that, regardless of the formulation used, with or without additives, the basis of their analytical best-practice process will remain consistent.
