Scharlab reduces plastic by 500 kg per year through the use of 100% recycled packaging
At Scharlab, we are strengthening our commitment to sustainability in the laboratory through a key update in our supply chain: the complete replacement of virgin plastic bags with 100% recycled plastic bags.
Environmental Impact and Circular Economy
This strategic measure allows us to directly mitigate the environmental impact of our operations:
- Waste reduction: We prevent the annual consumption of 457 kg of virgin plastic, which is equivalent to almost half a tonne of new polymers introduced into the ecosystem.
- Resource efficiency: We promote the circular economy by giving a second useful life to pre-existing materials, aligning ourselves with global decarbonisation goals.
Quality and Functionality Assurance
We understand that in the scientific environment, integrity is non-negotiable. Therefore, we guarantee that the switch to recycled plastic does not affect product functionality or protection. Scharlab’s safety and quality standards remain intact, ensuring that laboratory equipment arrives in optimal condition.
Strategic Framework: PEPE Plan
This initiative is not isolated; it forms an integral part of our PEPE (Business Plan for Prevention and Ecodesign). Through this plan, Scharlab constantly audits and improves its processes to reduce the environmental impact derived from packaging and distribution.
