Laboratory glassware

Volumetric glassware is an essential part of laboratory equipment, as it is used to accurately measure the volume of liquids in various scientific and analytical applications. As such, quality, accuracy and quality control in the manufacturing of volumetric glassware are crucial in order to guarantee reliable results in experiments and tests.

This blog post looks at the quality control processes applied to volumetric glassware. At Scharlab, the quality of our volumetric equipment is guaranteed through strict compliance with the applicable European (EN) and international (ISO) standards.

Quality control in the manufacturing of volumetric glassware involves a series of key technical considerations:

Statistical Process Control (SPC)

SPC is used to minimise deviation from the nominal value, i.e. increase the accuracy of the volumetric glassware. It also aims to minimise the dispersion of individual results, known as the coefficient of variation. This ensures that each part meets the required standards of precision.

Thorough quality control testing

We apply meticulous quality control procedures that cover different factors. These controls not only focus on the piece’s visual appearance, but also on its functionality and dimensions. Any imperfections that could affect performance or measurement accuracy are detected and corrected in accordance with UNE-EN ISO 4787.

Calibration methods

Our volumetric glassware is calibrated following internationally recognised standards. The calibration is carried out using the standard gravimetric method, which is an extremely accurate technique that guarantees reliable measurements.

Accredited calibration laboratory

Scharlab issues calibration certificates accredited by ENAC, (the Spanish National Accreditation Body), in accordance with ISO 17025:2017. This ensures measurement traceability and that all volumetric instruments are calibrated accurately.

Calibration certificates

Calibration certificates documenting and guaranteeing the quality and accuracy of each volumetric piece are issued in PDF format. These certificates serve as proof of compliance with the applicable standards and the instrument’s suitability for use in the laboratory.

Quality and precision are essential when manufacturing volumetric glassware in order to ensure accurate, reliable measurements in scientific and analytical applications. Meticulous quality control and compliance with international standards are critical technical factors that guarantee the reliability and integrity of our products in the laboratory environment.
