AUTOCLAVES
Autoclaves are used to sterilise all sorts of equipment be eliminating any form of life by applying a combination of steam, pressure and high temperatures (typically 121 °C) for a fixed time. These parameters are adjusted depending on the type of material to be sterilised (laboratory materials or utensils, agar for microbiology culture media, medical instruments, etc.). They are available in different size, from small tabletop autoclaves, common in medical or dental offices, to medium-sized floor-standing autoclaves, more common in laboratories, and large-capacity autoclaves for the health, pharmaceutical, food and industrial sectors.
